Welcome to our website

The Happy Haddock

The Happy Haddock is a fish and chip shop in Shanklin Old Village, Isle of Wight – directly opposite Vernon Meadow car park (that’s free from 6pm). We have a large range of freshly cooked food to offer you on our menu.

We used to be called “June’s Fish Bar” back in 1958 when we first opened. But now, as The Happy Haddock, our skilled and loved team are ready and waiting for you!

All Food is Freshly Cooked to Order

We’re sorry, but as it’s cooked fresh, this may cause delays during busy periods.

Gluten Free

We cook our Coeliac Orders in Beef Dripping. We use Gram Flour to Batter our Food. This will be cooked separately and served with separate tongs / shovels. (Again, we require 30 minutes notice).

We primarily fry in beef dripping. However, if required, we can fry in palm oil (which is suitable for Vegetarians). Note for Vegetarians who don’t eat Fish, when cooking in Palm Oil the Fish is cooked in the same pan as the Chips. We are happy to provide this service, but we do require 30 minutes notice – just call ahead first.

Bulk Orders

We cater for Bulk Orders (over 25 people) by prior arrangement only. Please speak to a member of staff for details or phone us on 01983 868570.

At The Happy Haddock, we try to accommodate for people with different allergies and intolerance. We think that everyone should be able to try our amazing food! And of course, there is no extra charge for this service. Please do speak to a member of staff about your food allergy/intolerance when making an order.

June's Fish Bar

We changed the name of our fish and chip shop to ‘The Happy Haddock’ in 2015, from ‘June’s Fish Bar’.
